How to build a better website? Open your ears, your visitors know!

You have an incredible idea that would bring your visits on ByTheOwner to a greater level of satisfaction? You think many other visitors share your need?

Welcome to the suggestion box!

This new section, dedicated to our visitors, is online since yesterday. We’ve been using it for a couple of weeks with suggestions from our staff and got pretty interesting results, so we decided to open it up to the visitors! Here is how it works :

Vote, comment and suggest new ideas!

When you open the suggestion box, you see a list of the last suggestions and comments visitors made. Anybody can read the suggestions but you need to be connected in order to interact with the box. (creating your user account is quick and free!)

If you click on a suggestion’s title, you’ll be able to read it’s description and comments. You’ll also see a + and a - button, allowing you to vote for the current idea in a single click. Back to the list, an icon will show you easily wich suggestions were voted or not.

Under the description and visitors comments, you’ll find a link allowing you to post a comment about the current suggestion.
Under the Current Suggestions and Completed tabs, you’ll find the ideas that came out of the box and got on our desks.
PS : This is where you need to look if you want to start a fsbo website and need fresh ideas!

What’s great about this new tool, is that we’ll be able to focus our development efforts on features that really matter to our customer. Listening to the visitors and letting them judge what’s more important for themselves will surely result in great ideas.
So! Go ideas?

I looked into your account on BTO, and saw that the “I want to receive the open house schedule.” checkbox was checked…

I’ve changed it for you, so you should not be receiving the open house schedule from now on

    Have a nice day!

We had our our bakery put on the home page. I have not seen it yet. How do I find it?

We put our bakery on the home page. How can I see it?

  5. Frédérick Says:

You can make sure your property is activated for the home page feature by clicking on the “Featured homes” header, above the 6 properties.

Visitors actually looking for a property in Ontario can see your bakery in rotation with other featured properties. I went by myself and saw it after hitting the “refresh” button once. Visitors looking in your specific region will also see it more often.

    Hi Folks,
Is there any chance of having this advertized in the United States, or is this a bad idea?
    Thanks Vince

We signed up yesterday for the sale of our house. We noticed that the Open House signs are not double-sided which means that only people coming in 1 direction can see the sign, not on the opposite direction and we are losing a lot of the traffic.

I think you should add the following items, that I beleive are important features.
In the Basement section: walk-out, slidding doors, oversize windows.
    In the Garage section: oversize.
In the Lots description: Patio and Deck separatly because you could have both or one of them, as it shows it’s either\or.
In the kitchen section: walk-out, walk-in pantry.

    Your website is awesome!

  10. Dale Smith Says:

Could you add Tennis Court to the property features section please?
And, could you make the ‘number of bedrooms’ field accept a description such as ‘ 3 +1 ‘

    Thanks

  11. Frédérick Says:

    Hi Dale

I’ll forward your “tennis court” request to the appropriate resource.

Concerning the “number of bedrooms” field, I already have this modification on my todo list, I hope I’ll be able to implement it as soon as possible!

    Thanks for your suggestion!
